School Visits

I am available for school visits. I talk about my work and the inspiration for my books. Local history and genuine folk tales are a great source of inspiration to me, and there are lots of interesting tales to tell, accompanied by slides of the real-life locations of my books.

Alternatively I have also run workshops on writing ghost stories. Ghost story writing is a great way to hone writing skills, as it's all about creating atmosphere and tension, without resorting to what I call "blood, guts and giblets"!

If you think this might be of interest for your school, please do get in touch with me. I am aware of constraints on funding and I always aim to keep travel and accommodation costs to a minimum.

Schools in Scotland: I am on the Scottish Book Trust's Live Literature database offering part funding of school visits in Scotland.

Author Visits

In addition to school visits, I am available to talk to groups of adults on topics including my own work, 'getting published', and the ghost stories of M.R.James. As with school visits, I do aim to keep travel and accommodation costs to a minimum. Please do get in touch if you are interested in arranging a visit.
